A highly regarded, leading subcontractor to the aerospace sector whom manufacture highly precision machined components from metal, plastics and composites.
The Company is now on the approved suppliers list of such primaries as Airbus, BAe Systems, GKN, Bombardier and UTC. The work is high mix, low volume in nature where there is a real need to tackle some of the most complex machining projects.
Consequently the range of technology is among some of the most advanced in today’s market, working with a range of materials including aluminium alloys, steels and composites. They have highly skilled engineers and experienced staff who are used to working to exacting standards and to tight deadlines.
Due to the investments made into new machinery, staff and overall development of the business, a position has come available for a skilled and experience Planning & Estimating Engineer.

Job Profile
As the successful Planning & Estimating, you will reporting to and working alongside the Commercial Director, supporting the sales activities by providing a first line of contact for all enquiries relating to work from customers.
This is a high-profile, central role within the company.
Duties:
• You will be responsible for managing RFQ’s and RFP’s for product ranging from small batches to entire work packages (such packages can involve hundreds of parts)
• A growing number of customers run MRP or e-procurement ordering systems and these will need to be efficiently managed
• As part of the lean initiative you will need to prepare and present metrics pertaining to the company’s performance with these customers
• On a day-to-day basis you will prepare estimates and quotations in line with contracts or customer requirements
• You will be required to manage incoming orders from customers and conduct Contract Reviews before preparation for the production process. This will involve loading the orders, creating parts and BOM’s plus planning sheets
• Work with the production manager, engineering manager and quality manager in order to ensure that customers are kept up to date with progress, technical and quality issues regarding their work
Specific Duties:
• Preparation of estimates and quotations
• Following up quotations
• Contract Reviews to ensure adherence to customer requirements.
• Sales order processing
• Creation of parts, BOM’s and planning on the production control system
• Creation of works orders, purchase orders and subcontract documentation
• Placing Purchase Orders for raw material
• Expediting the manufacture of parts and assemblies
• Liaising with Production and Quality to provide customers with up-to-date progress information
• Gathering and collating data for reporting purposes
• Preparation of metrics for reports to Commercial Manager
• General Duties as required conducive to efficient running of the department
Skills & Experience:
• Experience of CNC machining and mechanical assembly
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Aerospace sub-contracting industry
• Knowledge of Aerospace approvals and contracts
• In-depth experience of managing large manufacturing programmes
• Customer Relationship Management (CRM) experience
• Effective data collection and reporting skills
• Sound knowledge of ERP or MRP production control systems
• Familiarisation with Aerospace and ISO Quality standards
• Ability to manage workload effectively
Hours:
• 40hrs per week
• 08:00 to 17:00 Monday –Thursday
• 08:00 to 14:00 Friday
