Production Engineer – Redditch

Salary: £26,000 – £26,400per yeardependent upon experience

This position is to be based in Redditch and is easily commutable from Birmingham, Bromsgrove, Droitwich, Solihull, Kidderminster, Worcester, Warwick, Studley and Alcester

Our client is a long established and well known manufacturer based in Redditch. Due to internal promotion an opportunity has arisen for a Production Engineer to join their existing team. This role would ideally suit a junior engineer who has recently completed an apprenticeship or similar and is looking to progress their career to the next level.

Reporting directly to the Production Engineering Team Leader the main purpose of the role is to establish and organise efficient manufacturing processes through a program of continued assessment and improvement. Additionally you will be instrumental in providing facilities in order to achieve quality and output targets in a cost effective manner and delivering a service to Production in technical solutions and manufacturing documentation.

Key responsibilities:

* Ensure that cost effective methods of manufacture are used in all departments of the factory.
* Specify and order parts and materials for machinery, tooling and maintenance functions.
* Advise on plant layout, mechanical handling and methods of storage.
* To advise and successfully project manage the introduction of plant and machinery purchases pursuant of productivity improvement and scrap reduction.
* Assist the Quality department solve manufacturing problems, possibly by means of supplier visits.
* To ensure that the shop floor documentation and manufacturing procedures are in place.
* Train, guide and assist operators in process operations.
* Advise the Design and Development department on production feasibility of new product designs, so as ensure that they can be made efficiently, without detrimental effect to the products functionality and the personnel manufacturing/assembling the product.
* Project manage the design of jigs and fixtures and where possible manufacture them, so as to aid and improve production processes.
* To be involved in general maintenance/facilities duties and servicing machines.
