Salary: £36,000 per year

Our client is a clothing manufacturer currently seeking an experienced graphic designer.

MAIN PURPOSE
•To research and present all trends related to garment graphics and techniques to the boyswear and design team.
•Create new and exciting original graphics for Boyswear and occasionally Women’s and Girlswear fashion
.
KEY TASKS
•Work with garment Designer and buyer to clearly identify and understand the brands core customer, market position and key competitors.
•Produce competitor and designer brand photographic reports to present graphic direction and trends on branding and new techniques.
•Continuous trend research
•Forecast graphic direction along with new print/embroidery/applique/branding techniques.
•Assist in the collation of colour palettes and direction mood boards for each collection.
•Present specific graphic ideas for each collection and garment for sign off.
•Create and produce all artwork for garments for sign off by senior designer.
•Communicate with hubs and factory on any queries arising on graphics.
•Review samples when they arrive into office to check against given artwork.
•Manage workload and meet all deadlines on critical path.
•Communicate with buying and merchandise team weekly to be able to identify best & worst selling lines at product level and ensure that the learnings are applied back to future designs.
•Understand different print techniques and the restrictions of these prints i.e. which prints/techniques cannot be used together and what is achievable in production.
•Have an understanding of the cost of different print techniques and build up a library.
•Responsible for sizing artwork to correct scale to ensure most cost effective use of screens and identifying how many scales are required across age groups.
•Shows a confident understanding of the new graphic trends and discusses these with the team using information to decide on relevance to brand and image.
•Proactively put forward own ideas for what may be missing in the range.
KEY SKILLS REQUIRED
SYSTEMS
•Sound knowledge of different design systems – Adobe Suite
•Proficient use of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office
DESIGN SKILLS
•Experience in working to design briefs/directions
•Possesses an excellent eye for detail
•Excellent technical drawing skills
•Creative
•Demonstrates a passion for fashion, knowledge of designers and flair for developing product
•Ability to identify key trends and present in a confident manner

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
•Full clean driving license and own transport is essential

Hours – 37.5 hours Monday to Friday, although, there will be times where you may be there until later because of the nature of our business.
