4pl Operations Manager

Salary: £42,000 – £54,000 per year

The 4PL Operations Manager is responsible to the Commercial Director for setting up a new business unit to grow new customers and support existing customers. This unit will focus on building strong relationships with suppliers and allocating customer work to appropriate suppliers. The 4PL Operations Manager is also responsible for ensuring that exceptional service is provided to our valued customers and new business is effectively implemented.

The role is primarily focussed on driving revenue and productivity across the business.

Responsible For:

• Ensuring all suppliers meet our strict standards & Monitor supplier performance (KPIs) and optimal use of suppliers to give optimisation of transport costs
• Allocation of good quality suppliers to the appropriate work
• Sourcing solutions & suppliers to meet customer volume requirements
• Contract Reviews (Held monthly for each account) – Ensure accurate Service KPIs are in place for all business
• Consolidate P&L reporting
• Growth plan updated within review monthly – Design, Plan and Implement a coherent Growth Strategy
• Manage Contract Review Process
• Ensure expectations of customer service standards are understood and carried out
• Liaising with the customer’s representatives on a regular basis with a view to improving service standards and boosting revenue growth
• Identify opportunities for improvement and potential development to boost productivity and profitability
• Generation of new sales leads
• Identify operational requirements and effectively brief those requirements to the relevant operational team – Implemetation of new business
• Ensure any areas of fleet capacity identified are matched with appropriate new business / customers
• Ensure Customer terms and conditions (and Health & Safety requirements) are completely understood and catered for in our solution
• Ensure pricing matrices set up accurately
• Effective Staff Management

• Self-starter comfortable in championing a new business unit whilst working collaboratively with existing operations
• Full P&L control
• Carrier / Subcontractor Management experience
• Highly commercial
• Powerful intent and values around the adoption and implementation of technology
• Commitment and passion to implementing and effectively utilising data to make operational efficiency improvements
• An understanding of the importance of both culture and commercial elements of the business
