Our client is an international business that is number one in their sector. As part of their continued growth plans, they have opened a brand new facility in West London, this site is the latest, most-modern operational centre in the UK. As part of this extraordinarily exciting growth plans they are looking to recruit a proven Technical Manager to play an integral part in helping them to achieve their operational goals.

As the Technical Manager you will contribute to the success of the department by ensuring that analyses of casework items are carried out in a timely manner to quality standards and to provide non-routine assay service as necessary, in addition you will provide management advice & guidance and support workforce planning.

Key Accountabilities

To innovate and review potential methods to develop the overall workflow within the Laboratory

To review analytical data, identify potential issues and be proactive in their resolution

To perform instrument maintenance and repair of instruments, using troubleshooting to resolve any potential problems.

Minimise instrument downtime by implementing preventative maintenance.

To assist with technical training and development of staff.

To serve as an expert in analytical instrumentation and associated methodologies, acting as first point of contact or support for instrument operators.

To seek continuous improvement of methodologies and processes either directly or from staff

Lead the implementation of new methods and equipment, processes and procedures to ensure that it meets the changing requirements of European Testing and ISO17025 guidelines.

Lead any method validation of analytical methods for various instrumentations such as: LCMS, GCMS, GCMSMS and Immunoassays.

Organise Proficiency Testing schemes and assist with the reviews

Ensure all analytical work is carried out according to standard operating procedures/ ISO 17025 requirements and that results meet quality guidelines.

To be the acting lead for the quality champion.

The Person:

Bachelor’s or MSc degree in forensic or clinical toxicology, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, chemistry or other related degree concentration, or equivalent

Proven experience with separation science to support small molecule in biological matrices.

Experience working with accreditation body (UKAS) with deep understanding of ISO17025 requirements.

Deep understanding of analytical sciences, drug development process, GLP requirements, and workplace drug testing trends or similar

Experience in developing small molecules analytical chemistry methods in various biological matrices using different chromatographic techniques (LC\(MS), GC\(MS)\ HRMS…etc).

Excellent project management skills

Ability to communicate complex scientific findings/recommendations and project resource requirements (material, manpower, time, etc.), and elevate relevant issues to stakeholders

Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, effective problem-solving and decision-making

Ability to work independently and as part of a team with internal and external clients, self‑motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude

Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies

Ability to drive performance by tracking and managing key performance indicators using internal and external metrics

Ability to prioritize complex workloads and manage changing priorities

IT literate

Enthusiastic with a proactive approach in carrying out daily duties while also displaying patience, determination, and integrity at all times
