Female Support Worker

A part time opportunity has become available for a Female Brain Injury Support Worker to provide care and assistance to a lady in her late 20’s who has sustained a serious brain injury. In return, we offer

Our client has a range of physical and cognitive difficulties and needs support with therapy at home. As a Brain Injury Support Worker, you will mainly work on a 1 to 1 basis with her, closely monitored by members of the therapy team and her brain injury case manager. She has also recently moved to Leeds and is keen to explore the area & make new friends.

The Support Worker will be required to provide assistance with the following:
Attending college
Shopping
Attending hospital and therapy sessions
Going to the gym
Domestic activities
Using her laptop computer and accessing the internet
Improving her literacy and numeracy
Socialising in the evenings and at weekends

Our client is outgoing and bubbly but gets frustrated and upset about the impact of her injuries. The successful candidate will be able to motivate and encourage her when she is feeling despondent. She can have difficulty managing her emotions and she requires support during these difficult times. However, she is generally extremely well motivated and keen to make the most of her opportunities; she looks forward to a fulfilling future.

Full training and support is given. You will undertake a range of statutory training.

The successful Brain Injury Support Worker will:
Hold a current clean driving licence
Be prepared to undergo an enhanced DBS Disclosure and be able to provide two professional references
Be flexible to work hours during the day, evenings and occasional weekends (including weekends away)

The hours of work are 18 per week.

The rate of pay is £26,000per year weekdays, £26,000 per year weekends.

Female position only – Post exempt under The Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9 Part 1 – significant personal care needs.
