Principal Engineer for Civil

A major civil works contracting body is in need of Principal Engineers with Civil, Electrical and Mechanical backgrounds to work on local rail assets, undertaking critical projects to transform the North West’s localised rail networks. Operating across the North West, this organisation sustains and develops vital multi-million pound infrastructures.

As a Principal Engineer within one of the categories, you will be responsible for:

Leading a design team within a project and will be expected to be capable of undertaking the design Contractors Responsible Engineers (CRE) role or the equivalent.
Ensuring the robust, cost effective and innovative technical solutions are delivered for design projects.
Forecast the resource requirements necessary for allocated projects in sufficient time to ensure that they can be provided.
Identify the required budget provision for allocated projects/sub projects to enable target dates to be met.
Safety responsibility in terms of Health and Safety legislation, Company procedures including development of the Project Safety Plan.
Define and manage changes to scope of work, variations on projects
Focal point for Liaison with clients
Personal and technical development for direct reports.
Monitor the progress of works and ensure that the development, design construction, testing and financial targets are met and effect remedial action where required.
Experience required:

Ideally a Chartered or working towards this.
Degree qualified or equivalent.
Extensive rail infrastructure experience.
Previous experience within rail engineering, with insight across design, commissioning, and installation activity.
Professional knowledge of standardised technical specifications within public rail systems.
Experienced in Mechanical, Electrification or Civil engineering.
Excellent safety record, with a committed attitude to site safety.
