Salary: £19.92 per hour

We are recruiting on behalf of the North Wales Police based in St Asaph. We are looking for talented candidates who can assume the position and duties of a Coroner’s Officer.

This is a full time role Monday to Friday Office hours, 37 hours.

In order to be successful in this position, North Wales Police require you to have-

-HNC or equivalent qualification and/or proven work experience.

-The use of Information Technology to an intermediate level and working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.

-Possess good organisational skills, together with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB

-On behalf of HM Coroner to investigate and report all violent, suspicious, sudden or unnatural deaths in line with policy and legislation.

-To liaise with other professionals in the field of bereavement and to deal empathetically and informatively with families of the deceased.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

-To assess and investigate reports of all sudden, violent, suspicious or unnatural deaths for which a Certificate has or has not been issued.

-Where necessary visit scenes of death, ascertain identity and collect evidence required for the Pathology Department and the Coroner.

-Where necessary arrange identification of deceased person’s at Mortuary.

-To work with other professional in a multiagency setting.

-To record statements from witnesses, doctors, next of kin and persons having knowledge of matters surrounding the death or circumstances leading to it, which may be of value at an Inquest

-To compile Inquest files to an excellent standard.

To collate and assemble evidence provided by Police Officers, Fire Service Officers, Factory Inspectors, Health & Safety Inspectorate etc.

To provide advice and guidance to those Officers to facilitate the investigation and Inquest.
