We’re looking for a reliable and motivated person to join our professional team of Senior Support Workers (Intervenors – Level 2) at our service in Ardwick, Manchester working 10 hours per week on a permanent basis within a Community setting.

has been helping people who are deafblind and with sensory impairments to enjoy more independent lives for over 60 years. We support and campaign for people of all ages, from children through to older people, with a wide range of sight and hearing difficulties and associated communication needs or additional learning disabilities. We provide tailored support, advice and information as well as specialist services to individuals, their families, carers and the professionals who work with them.
About the role
As an Intervenor (Senior Support Worker – Level 2) you will support people with congenital deafblindness and perhaps associated disabilities or complex needs. You will be to enable the individual to experience and join in the world around them as much as possible. This will be done by promoting the person’s social and personal development, encouraging their independent skills and facilitating their communication.
This support may be provided in someone’s home, their local community or work setting and personal care may be required.
*For genuine occupational requirement reasons we are looking to appoint a Female only (exemption under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9).
Skills and abilities
The ideal candidate will have achieved, or be willing to work toward, a Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) and also BSL level one or possess native sign language skills. You will have had experience of working with and providing practical support to, people with learning disabilities and / or multisensory impairments.
The successful candidate will have had experience of facilitating a person centred review, and ideally of using a range of person centred planning tools.
