Systems Technician – Electronics – Kent – Permanent

I am seeking a Systems Technician in Kent. With an electronics engineering background you ideally have knowledge of the military or defence standards. This role is to work for a world leading Manufacturing company and as a Systems Technician you will be both site based but with occasional attendance at client’s premises for the delivery of the service contract.

What YOU will do as a Systems Technician:

Provide telephone technical support, installation, maintenance, fault diagnosis and electro mechanical repair of Virtual Training Systems to customers, both onsite in Kent or at the customer’s location. Assembly and conversion of deactivated live firearms into simulated weapons and any required repairs. Remain flexible within the department to meet any reasonable request given by management.

As a Systems Technician you will be responsible for:

* Computer based bespoke simulation system and Line Replacement Unit (LRU) fault diagnosis and repair
* Record and document information found during the fault diagnosis, repair, and service of these bespoke simulators
* Provide telephone technical support to assist customers in resolving reported equipment problems and ensuring where necessary, replacement units are despatched
* Responsible for ensuring that the requirements of issued work instructions including track sheets, drawings, procedures, specifications and forms are fully complied with
* Completion and retention of relevant documentation including the Data Reporting And Corrective Action System (DRACAS) problem report
* Installation, acceptance testing, and customer training on Systems at customer locations
* Be able to work on own initiative, or as part of a team
* Willing to travel in UK and overseas. This can be for extended periods, and sometimes at short notice dependant on the customer requirement

As a Systems Technician, you will need:

* A qualification in electronic or electrical engineering would be highly advantageous
* Have a maintenance or service engineering background – would possibly suit ex-Military or have a strength in avionics or electroics
* Be computer literate and have good interpersonal skills
