Duties include:

Answering and dealing with emergency calls
Operating a busy switchboard
Dealing with members of the public
Connecting people to correct extensions
Reporting any switchboard faults
Updating system with each action
Assisting colleagues where requiredThis role is a reactive role and can often work on short notice requirements, though patterns will be issued.
