Project:
Design and build project to undertake installation of 15 km of track renewal, upgrading 17 existing railway structures including 4 bridge reconstructions for electrification clearance and upgrade to two stations in order to improve capacity of the local network for Network Rail Infrastructure Limited.
The civil works involve bridge demolition, piling and soil nailing, embankment and cutting stabilisation earthworks, and construction of a new road and foot bridges. The project also involves platform extensions and upgrades including M&E works, CIS, CCTV, PA help points and external lighting. The rail works include replacement track bed, track drainage, track and the diversion of rail side communications GSMR Masts and cables.
Responsibilities:
*To manage the engineering and project management delivery of a section of the project including significant bridge structures works
*Responsible for ensuring the section of works are delivered safely; to specification, budget and programme
*Provide innovative engineering solutions to a challenging project.
*Develop construction methodologies / plans / programmes
*Management of site activities
*Progress reporting
*Cost Forecasting for the section of works
*Material procurement approvals
*Provide technical engineering support as a key member of the team
*Leadership / support / guidance and management to section engineers and site engineers
*Preparation of methods and procedures supported by diagrams and sketches for Work Package Plans
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Essential
*Experience of detailed Temporary Works Design and Engineering Methods preferably gained by a design secondment
*Proven ability as a section manager
*SMSTS (Refresher training can be provided if required)
*Good decision making skills
*Strong interpersonal skills
*Strong Planning & Organising skills
*Demonstrates proactive commitment to HSEQ issues and principles.
Desirable
*Membership (or working towards membership of) the Association for Project Management, or another professional body
*Knowledge of safety, quality, environmental, commercial and financial aspects.
*Understanding of possession planning.
