Salary: £30,000 per year

We are recruiting for a Non-Domestic EPC Assessor / Manager to join the team at one of the UK’s leading consultancies for expert water, energy and sustainability solutions. They work with a diverse range of public and private sector clients that range from healthcare, local government, and education to commercial and industrial companies, helping their customer base achieve compliance, safeguard the wellbeing of their service users, empower their teams, and innovate for a sustainable, net zero future efficiently and cost effectively.

As the EPC Assessor you will assist in the delivery of all energy and carbon management services to ensure both the company and their clients are fully compliant with current legislation within water management and energy services.

As the Non-Domestic EPC Assessor, you will:

  • Benchmark energy consumption against best practice guidelines.
  • Visit sites to carry out inspections and complete energy surveys.
  • Collect and record energy monitoring data.
  • Create energy policies and systems.
  • Manage energy contract negotiations.
  • Develop and oversee strategies to reduce energy consumption.
  • Encourage the use of renewable and sustainable energy resources.
  • Keep up to date with energy legislation.
  • Oversee carbon management, raise the profile of energy conservation and advise and provide training on energy efficiency.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to team members and site operatives relating to energy and carbon Gain and provide quotes and tenders for small and remedial works.
  • Build and maintain client relationships at all levels which will include client meetings and site visits.

To be considered for this opportunity you will need:

Energy management experience.

To be a registered Commercial EPC Assessor.

Have a degree in Building Services or Energy Management.

An Understanding of ISO 50001.

A good working knowledge of current energy and carbon management legislation.

A good working knowledge and understanding of current and future environmental legislation.

An awareness of Health & Safety Issues and the need for safe methods of working.

Ideally experience and knowledge of evaluating water chemistry with cooling towers and closed systems.

Good interpersonal, communication, management and organisational skills.

To be computer literate.

Experience of dealing with corporate accounts and clients.

Able to use your initiative to prioritise your work, with the ability to work to a high standard of work meeting agreed timescales and with limited supervision.

If you are currently a BREEAM Assessor, Low Carbon Consultant or DEC Assessor that would be advantageous too.

To be living within a one hour commute of Harrogate.

It is expected that the EPC Assessor will:

  • Keep themselves updated on any legislative changes, implementing any change in working practices into the daily operations.
  • Be provided with initial and ongoing training that is required for this job role (please note that if you were to leave within 12 months of a training course the cost of it would be reclaimed from your final salary).
  • Be happy to stay away from home for one to two nights a week and travel across the UK to various sites.

On offer:

  • A salary of between £30,000and £40,000 per year which is negotiable based on experience. (If you are an ESOS Lead Assessor the salary would be nearer the higher option, if you do not have this but have the skills and are willing to be training to ESOS then it would be the salary would be nearer the lower end but with the opportunity to increase once you complete your training which the company will fund).
  • Company Car & Fuel Card OR Car Allowance of £350 per month and 25p per mile.
  • Hybrid working option – can be office based or home based.

  • It is estimated that one to two nights away per week with the role covering the whole of the UK, when away Hotel accommodation is booked centrally which includes breakfast, evening meal and drinks.
