Addiction Therapist (Counsellor)

Job Description

To work in and maintain company policies and procedures. Complete all relevant paperwork and to work within the abstinence based framework.
To enable vulnerable service users attending the therapeutic programme to self develop in their awareness and understanding of addiction and themselves to becoming a fully functioning individual.
To deliver psychological interventions and therapeutic theoretical evidence based interventions to clinical practice.
To complete individual care planning processes with service users and aid to identify needs and circumstances.
To review care plans and produce a written review report for the review process with the referring professional.
To facilitate service users in both group therapy and individual one to one counselling sessions being aware of the companies therapeutic release of confidentiality ethics and procedures.
To maintain a high standard of record keeping and maintain open communication within the multi-disciplinary team.
To ensure that all therapeutic activities and assignments are completed when due.
Participate in the on-going development of the therapeutic programme and implement the changes.
To actively participate in line management supervision and continue with personal development.
To work on developing the service provided and work towards building upon the existing, comprehensive treatment manual, programme manual and evidence based manual
To ensure that all discharge procedures are followed when a service user leaves the programme.
To implement required evidence in relation to the therapeutic programme at set stages by use of the treatment outcome profile and the Rosenberg self esteem scoring.
To support the other members of the team in the delivery of the therapeutic programme and ensure that the programme is adhered to.
ensure professional and ethical practice is adhered to.
comply and be familiar with Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Policies & Procedures and seek guidance where necessary
To take part in the handover process.
To treat servicer users with respect and dignity to empower them to regain control of their lives.
To attend internal meetings and case conferences when required.
To maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with referring agencies and other outside agencies in accordance with policies, procedures and systems.
To take shared responsibility for the smooth running of the therapeutic programme and use own initiative when necessary.
Remain flexible in hours of duty and cover for both sites when required. To work on a rolling rota for Saturdays and a late evening to cover Aftercare Group. To cover other duties as and when required within the organisation.
To provide relevant reports to other professionals working with the service uses as requested.

Qualifications Required

Good basic level of education.

A minimum of Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling or equivalent and working towards a degree in Addictions Therapy
The long term goal within this role is that you will be required to work towards accreditation with BACP/NADAAC or equivalent 5 GCSE’s or equivalent

Experience Required

Minimum duration within similar type role. 12 months

Other Requirements

Hours of work are 40 per week and are flexible according to the needs of the client group.

To see clients at both centres when required through liaison with Programme Manager.

To work in partnership with all stakeholders and external agencies

To comply with the organisations’ Policies and Procedures (including Confidentiality).

Complete a satisfactory Police/Enhanced DBS Check

To perform other duties appropriate to the post as may be requested and agreed with the Line Manager.
