Site Technical Manager

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Technical Manager to join a multi-million pound Global food business with a great reputation in the industry. The Technical Manager will report directly into the Operations Director and will be based at their UK Head Office in East Yorkshire.

Main Duties of the Role:

You will act as the customer quality champion and manage technical and quality issues that arise through site technical teams.
You should be improvement focused and able to consistently challenge existing systems and processes to deliver against customer standards.
Responsible for promoting new ideas and supporting innovation with the Operations Director and customers.
You will be responsible working closely with the grower base to identify and develop new customer-specific varieties and to identify opportunities for innovation.
Undertaking due diligence supplied audits to ensure compliance with all areas of food safety, best practices and ethical trade initiatives throughout the supply chain.
Successfully implementing the Food Information Regulations across key customers and ensuring compliance with all legal standards.
Liaising effectively with the internal teams, including the Commercial, Product, Customer and Quality teams, to resolve quality issues, establish customer and product-specific Quality Improvement Plans
You will provide clear leadership and support for your team and motivate your team and the broader business.
Your background:

You should be qualified in a food science or a related discipline and already have gained experience within the food industry in a technical role that includes people leadership and customer exposure.
You must be able to show a good understanding of current legislation, quality systems and retailer standards and be experienced in managing and hosting BRC and customer audits.
You will be self-motivated and solutions orientated with excellent influencing skills and enjoy the factory elements of the role.
