Steel Stock Assistant

Our client is a very well respected engineering company, established for over 100 years! Based in Derbyshire,they specialize in the supply and delivery of steel stock and steelwork fabrications and they now seek a Steel Stock Assistant.

This is a hands on role where you will be using a wide range of machinery and equipment such as: Fork Trucks, Overhead Cranes, Saws, Plasma Machines and Guillotines.

Role / Duties:
Checking incoming and outgoing goods.
Unloading suppliers delivery vehicles as well as liaising with drivers.
Preparing customers orders.
Ensuring all materials are stored in a safe manner.
Identifying ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Carrying out vehicle and equipment maintenance checks.
Ensuring and enforcing good housekeeping is maintained within the steel stock department.
Interpreting computer processing instructions.

Candidate requirements:
Good time keeping.
Can work well within a team but also individually.
Ability to organise workload.
Steel knowledge would be an advantage but not essential.
Willing to work overtime where the business requires.
Full driving license.
Manual / physical work so physical fitness is essential.

On offer:
This is a full time, permanent PAYE position.
Good hourly rate paid – very busy company so plenty of overtime hours available.
Monday –Friday 8am-5pm / Saturdays 8am-12 pm as the business requires.
33 days holiday per year (inclusive of Bank Holidays)
