Process Engineer / Metallurgist

Our client is a research and technology, ember-based, global leading organisation with unrivalled capabilities in casting design, materials development and selection, specifications, manufacturing technologies, quality control, testing and performance.

The role will consist of providing training, process support, technical consultancy and technology transfer as part of a world class organisation in the casting industry.

Main responsibilities and duties will include:
• Supporting the Air and Vacuum melting facilities to maintain quality of the products and to control mechanical and chemical testing. Main processes involved: sand casting, investment casting (lost wax/foam) and also rapid prototyping processes.
• Supporting research and development projects.
• Working in a BSI/UKAS approved Metallurgical/Chemical Analysis Laboratory.
• Working with cast alloys including iron, steel, aluminium, titanium and nickel based super-alloys, as well as any other alloy that gets submitted for investigation.
• Report writing.
• Hardness testing (Vickers, Rockwell, Brinell)
• OES and Combustion analysis (UKAS:O-H-N-C-S)
• Carrying out Maroscopic/Microscopic/Metallographic investigations.
• SEM investigations, imagining and EDX analysis.
• Sand testing.
• Surface roughness/waviness assessments.
• Being part of the Quality team.
• Internal/External Auditor.
• Conducting site visits at customer facilities and on behalf of customer sub-contractor facilities.
• Organising and maintaining all calibrations within the company.
• Signatory for certified customer results.
