We are looking for Senior Security Architects to join a new function in the core Architecture team, creating a Secure Design team that will ensure security considerations are built into DWP Digital solution designs from the outset.
This single and cohesive core team’s objectives will be:
– To reduce the likelihood of divergence in approach to security architecture design;
– Improve efficiency and speed of the design process; and
– Remove duplication of effort and ensure maximum utilisation of our resources.
We need someone who is as motivated by that unique purpose as we are, and who has the skills we need to collaboratively deliver against one of the largest digital transformation agendas in the UK and Europe, for the UK’s biggest government department.
You’ll join our community of Security Architects in DWP Digital. We maintain and modernise services that will be used by nearly every person in the UK, at key moments in their lives. The scale of what we do is extraordinary, and our purpose is unique. We’d love you to join us.

This role will engage with and sometimes be embedded in projects and PDU’s from the Discovery phase and throughout the life cycle through to disposal, and will be based across all our Digital Hubs.
You will be blending your technical security knowledge, architecture design, and development skills. With a deep knowledge and experience in Security, you’ll help us transform what and how DWP deliver on services that everyone will use in their lifetime.
What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?
The ideal candidate for this role will be able to demonstrate the following essential criteria:
Application Architecture design and modelling techniques, tools and standards.
Application Security Testing e.g. OWASP and Secure Code Assessment tools, and security of container/cluster based solutions e.g. Docker, Kubernetes.
Identity Management and federation including SSO.
Cloud Acceleration, SD-WAN, DDoS and network based controls.
Cloud based assurance and risk models and their application, including NIST and other associated frameworks.
Information Security innovation as part of the future of Application Reference Architecture.
Desirable Qualifications:
Azure/AWS Architecture certified.
CCSK Certified /CCSP Certified.
Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
