Associate Director of Finance

Salary: £84,000 – £96,000 per year

This well-established, rapidly growing organisation in Liverpool city centre are looking to recruit Associate Director of Finance to join the function in a newly created role.

Reporting to an impressive Finance Director, your core duties will include;

Day to day management of a pro-active and customer focused central finance function
Oversight of the production of timely and accurate consolidated management accounts and financial reporting
Implementation and maintenance of robust financial controls across the group to support annual statutory reporting
The management and development of the Finance function (2 direct reports, 30 indirect reports) to ensure that all staff perform to their full potential and that the departments within support the ongoing operation of the business to meet its financial objectives
Deputising in the absence of the Finance Director
Management and direction of directly reporting staff and their functions including Financial Reporting, including Financial and Management Accounts, and Finance Services (Purchase Ledger / Sales Ledger / Central Processing)
Development and maintenance of accounting policies that comply with relevant accounting standards and that are appropriate for the true representation of the financial position of the company
Development and maintenance of internal financial controls management accounts and annual financial statements
Oversight of the preparation and distribution of accurate and timely management accounts packs and reporting that accurately reflects the trading and net assets positions of the company and are supported by detailed reconciliations (including supporting evidence) of all trial balance accounts.
Oversight and design of robust revenue recognition policies that are compliant with accounting standards
Oversight of corporate compliance with VAT legislation
Support the Head of Financial Reporting with the management of the annual audit and ensuring that no material audit adjustments occur and that the audit is complete within the timescales required
Oversee the management of the preparation of Group’s statutory accounts in accordance with agreed timetables, ensuring that all relevant disclosures are made and that the accounts are filed on a timely basis
Oversight of a customer focused central processing function that supports operational colleagues to provide financial support to participants
Oversight of company procurement processes and controls, ensuring compliance with required controls
To conduct regular internal control reviews and notify the Finance Director of any control deficiencies or breaches and recommend control improvements
Manage and directly contribute to the delivery of business and process improvement projects for Finance including coordinating new business implementation activities for the departmentKey requirements;

Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) accountant with 4-8 years PQE and an excellent technical background including IFRS
Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team with good communication and reporting skills
Experience of managing and developing a large, centralised finance function in a multi-site business
Experience of accounting under both UK GAAP and IFRS
Experience of managing both accounting and transactional teams
Experience of working with non-financial managers to provide commercial insight and support them in understanding financial information
Good excel and analytical skills
Excellent communication skills
Experience of conveying financial information to non-financial managers and Directors in a coherent and confident way
Proven track record of successful project management and delivery
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
