Systems Accountant

Salary: £60,000 – £66,000 per year

The Business

Robert Walters are currently recruiting an interim Oracle Systems Accountant for a highly profitable business based in Cheshire. This business has a unique operating model and will provide the successful candidate with unparalleled levels of autonomy, exposure and progression within a dynamic, fast paced organisation. Due to the organisation going through a period of expansion the need for increased levels of efficiency within the system is essential for the business to hit their projected growth targets. This role will report directly into a number of key senior management stakeholders and will partner across both finance and IT to provide essential value add. With a number of highly visible projects due to commence in the coming months the importance of this role cannot be understated. Consequently the candidate will need to be a proven Oracle systems accountant with strong technical and communication skills.

The Role

With an established and growing finance team already in place the business that we’re representing are in need of an Oracle Systems Accountant to develop and grow with the business. Once in role the candidate will be working with the senior management team to develop the current system and make key improvements to enhance its functionality.

Specific aspects of the role included:

Deliver a functionality assessment of the existing system to understand the existing usage and its true capabilities

Business partner with the heads of finance to understand their specific system needs and current functionality frustrations

Deliver and implement improved controls across all finance elements of the system

Liaise with the finance and IT team to deliver an improvement framework that can be rolled out across all finance users

Business partner with the IT division to deliver process improvements across the existing Oracle system

Be the ‘link’ between finance and IT on all finance related system queries and improvements

Deliver and document a system improvement plan that is fit for purpose for all finance users

Implement and deliver change across all finance elements of the system

Lead a project team to strip away non key finance functionalities across the finance element of the Oracle system

Work with key stakeholders to understand and deliver the bespoke reports that are needed across finance

Deliver an standardised reporting format for finance within the Oracle system

Lead on a standardised training programme for all existing and new finance team members

The Candidate

Candidates wishing to apply for this role will be a proven systems accountant and will have extensive knowledge of working with Oracle. The successful candidate will have the ability to strip an Oracle system back to its key components and rebuild it in a way that is highly efficient from a finance perspective. The ability to ‘roll your sleeves up’ and liaise with key stakeholders on critical projects is essential as this post holder will be the lead person on a number of key initiatives. The ability to know ‘what good looks like’ and deliver change in a fast paced environment is critical for this role. Strong communication skills and highly developed technical knowledge of Oracle is absolutely essential for this role.
