Software Developer

My Client, a leading Defence organisation based in Crawley, West Sussex, are currently searching for a talented Software Developer to join their fast-growing team on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities will include:
* Production, modification and maintenance of software and systems
* All stages of the software development life-cycle, planning, implementation, testing, documenting, deployment and maintenance
* Building web application back end systems including REST and RPC API’s, database services and payment processing
* Working closely with the front end developer and team members
* Produce high quality, testable code and unit tests

Essential Skills:
* Good experience with PHP MVC frameworks
* Excellent Object-Oriented PHP skills and knowledge of design patterns
* Database design, SQL querying and stored procedures
* Web services and APIs, AJAJ and RPC and REST API’s
* Unit testing and TDD/BDD (PHPUnit, PHPSpec, Behat)
* HTML, CSS and JavaScript including jQuery
* Development on Linux/Unix based systems and good knowledge of Linux
* Good knowledge of a scripting language (Perl, ruby, shell etc)
* Requirements analysis and technical documentation
* Excitement about emerging software and web technologies

Qualifications or experience:
* A bachelor degree, with a technical major, such as computer science or engineering
* Minimum of four years development experience
