Production Operator

Salary: £28,800 per year

Platinum Personnel Solutions are looking for a Production Operator Technician on behalf of our client based in Parham, Suffolk.

You will carry out the manufacture of fiber optic cables and micro ducts utilizing polymer extrusion technology and associated equipment. Also, undertake a range of supporting tasks including production set-up activities, assembly operations, quality control inspection and processing tasks to meet production requirements. Training will be given to set, run, QC test and undertake maintenance activities on multiple extrusion lines, within the continuous process operation.

You will make an impact in the following way:

You will be part of a team who will undertake a range of supporting tasks including;

• Production set-up activities
• Running of cable extrusion lines / Constant monitoring of the lines
• Maintaining and cleaning tooling
• Ensure good quality by inspection of finished products

Our client train their employees on-the-job to learn the continuous process of cable extrusion. Once trained, you will become a valuable technician capable of running cable extrusion lines from start to finish. 

What you will bring:

• Experience of manufacturing processes and health and safety best practice plus the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Basic mechanical ability and knowledge of machine operations
• Extrusion experience is advantageous but it’s not essential
• Strong sense of team working
• Educated to GCSE level in Maths, English and Science (Physics) with grades A-C / 8-4 or equivalent

Our client’s production team works 40 hours per week on a rotating three shift pattern, (10pm to 6.30am, 6am to 2.30pm and 2pm to 10.30pm, Sunday to Friday) and possible weekend and overtime when required. At busy times you may be asked to work overtime. Starting salary is £28,800 p.a. plus a night shift allowance.
