Functional skills tutor – The role

  • Permanent role for a Functional skills tutor teaching home based
  • Supporting small groups of apprentices delivering up to Level 2 in Functional Skills
  • Competitive salary £36,000

Functional skills tutor main duties:

  • Delivering Functional Skills online delivering in groups and one to one session.
  • Planning engaging and fun sessions to keep learners motivated and on track
  • Maintain a positive working environment for and learners are getting the most out of each session
  • Working to overcome any barriers to learning and adapting delivery to meet learner’s needs, signpost for support where necessary to ensure learners have access to high quality and impartial information, advice and guidance (IAG)
  • Facilitating the learner journey and ensuring tasks are completed within deadline
  • Be responsible for completing and maintaining appropriate internal and external quality standards
  • Maintain qualifications, competency, and a record of CPD to ensure that practice is current and reflects the relevant criteria for the qualifications being delivered

Skills and experience:

  • Qualified Tutor (any of the following (PTLLS / EAT / CERT ED / PGCE)
  • Relevant qualification in English / Maths or both – Level 2 or above
  • Up to date with all relevant changes within the Training & Education sector – funding / qualifications / eligibility
  • To work in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary environment, always working in a professional way
  • To champion safeguarding, prevent and company equality and diversity agendas.
