Building Design Surveyor
Location: Colchester
Salary: £37,200 – £43,200per annum
Contract Term: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours, Monday to Friday

Greenacre Recruitment are working alongside a forward thinking housing association based in Colchester to source a Building Design Surveyor. Your role will be to design, specify, procure and manage Capital building projects and Building maintenance programme projects to be undertaken within both the local authority and the housing associations building assets.

Key Responsibilities;

? Undertake in-depth stock condition surveys of all of the Council?s non-housing building assets.
? Use the completed surveys to plan and manage an effective building maintenance programme for all of the Council?s non-housing building assets
? Project budget monitoring and reporting including the preparation and presentation of Cabinet and Portfolio Holder reports.
? Ensuring that projects are undertaken in accordance with Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations and health and safety legislation and that projects undertaken by external contractors are tendered in accordance with the Council?s Constitution and procurement rules.
? Commissioning and supervision of Framework Consultants when necessary at the direction of the Building Design and Specification Surveyor.
? Provide technical assistance and advice on a range of building and technical services to Councillors, Senior Management Team, Council Officers, Building Managers and external partner organisations.
? Undertake any other additional duties as directed by the Building Design and Specification Surveyor to ensure an effective and efficient building maintenance programme.

Essential requirements;

? Awareness of and compliance with Health and Safety legislation and policy as relevant to the post.
? First-hand knowledge of working in the building industry and in the public and social housing sector.
? Degree in building construction or HND/HNC equivalent.
? Member of RICS or CIAT (Desirable)
? Experience of project management of large scale refurbishments from inception to completion.
? Specification writing, party wall issues and dilapidations and surveys.
? Design using AutoCAD.
