Our client, a trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, is searching for an experienced Bid Officer to join their dynamic business development team. The Concepts and Technology team operates under the UK Sales and Business Development (S&BD) organisation and is responsible for providing leadership to shape our client’s future. The role of the Bid Officer is to coordinate and manage research, concepts, and technology bids for various externally funded frameworks in which our client participates.

What we’re looking for:

  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent is desirable.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to plan effectively.
  • Bid or project management experience is desirable.
  • Drive momentum and excitement in bid teams to deliver timely outputs.
  • Willingness to offer constructive feedback that can facilitate ongoing enhancements to bids, frameworks, and other related areas.
  • Business development experience is optional for this role.
  • Experience in working in teams. While optional, having experience managing small teams would be beneficial.
  • Understanding of technologies is beneficial although not a pre-requisite

What you’ll get to do as a Job Title:

The Concepts and Technology team is currently looking for an ideal candidate to lead bids into frameworks. In this role, you will be working closely with finance, commercial, Future Systems, and technical functions. Excellent communication skills are crucial, and you must be dedicated to building relationships and collaborating with colleagues to ensure timely and quality outputs. Your responsibilities will include managing multiple bids simultaneously, often on tight timescales. You will allocate and manage tendering spend, track bid progress, and ensure that our client submits compelling, competitive, and winning bids.

Our client’s relationship with the UK military spans back over 70 years. They have delivered countless landmarks in defence engineering, supplying vital defence capability to meet the needs of the armed forces over land, sea, and air.

This role is based at their headquarters in Stevenage which plays a key part in missiles operations. The site also offers excellent transportation links and boasts an onsite gym and coffee shop. Training and development are offered to all employees.
