You will need direct experience of the Online Marketing arena. Ideally this would include Online Marketing / Search Marketing, Email marketing, Affiliate Marketing or any other area of Online Advertising. You will also need a background in client servicing, ideally at Account Director level, but possibly Senior Account Manager.

The role is all about personality. You’ll be responsible for managing key accounts, so your experience of account management / client management should be exceptional. You’ll also need to be able to oversee a team of Account Managers, who are motivated and need guidance. If you can lead by example, you’ll do well. There will plenty of liaison with internal teams, including the technology based ones, so you will also need to be able to keep fully up-to-date with the relevant changes and also keep abreast of industry trends and movements.
It’s a strategic role with responsibility for budget management, target achievement, new business identification (and assisting with pitches) and reporting. Managers here should be inspirational and dedicated. They will be able to act autonomously and delegate responsibility effectively.
